RESIDENTS OF TAVETA CELEBRATE FREE SECONDARY EDUCATION
BY PATIENCE SAMBA
Residents of Taveta in Taita Taveta County are rejoicing as education in the area becomes more accessible, with all day secondary schools declared free and boarding students required to pay only Sh5,000. The announcement by Taveta MP John Okano Bwire assures that in 2026 no parent will have to pay fees, highlighting that education is the key to a student’s future, and he urged parents not to stop pregnant students from going to school. Adding to the community’s relief, Taita Taveta County Women Representative Lydia Haika distributed sanitary towels to female students, ensuring girls can attend school without interruption, making it possible for every child in Taveta to pursue education despite financial challenges.
