ODM CRISIS DEEPENS: SIFUNA OUSTED, ORENGO FACES IMPEACHMENT THREATS

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is facing internal turmoil following the removal of Senator Edwin Sifuna as Secretary General over alleged indiscipline, a move that has exposed deep divisions within the party. Sifuna, a vocal defender of ODM’s principles, has often resisted alliances with the ruling administration, making his ouster controversial and widely debated. In the wake of his removal, some party members have hinted at possible impeachment proceedings against Siaya Governor James Orengo, who has closely aligned with Sifuna in opposing moves they view as shifting the party away from its opposition roots. The unfolding developments threaten to escalate political tensions both within ODM and in Siaya County ahead of the 2027 General Election.

RESOURCE CENTER EMPOWERS COAST GIRLS WITH TRAINING ON BOUNDARIES, CONSENT AND PERMISSION BY PATIENCE SAMBA        The Resource Center for Women and Girls has carried out training sessions across the Coast region to equip girls and women with essential life skills, including how to set personal boundaries, how to understand and give consent, and how to ask for permission in different situations. The non-governmental organisation has reached groups in Makupa, Mombasa County, and Kilifi County, conducting physical, interactive lessons aimed at empowering participants.
