Residents of Mwatate in Taita Taveta County are set to benefit after Mwatate Municipality is developing a climate resilience framework aimed at ensuring safer homes, reliable water, and improved farming. The plan, still in the works, will include early warning systems, real-time climate data, and a disaster response team to help the community prepare for floods, droughts, and landslides. Once implemented, it is expected to support farmers with climate smart agriculture, better water harvesting, pest management, and reduced post harvest losses, while afforestation, water catchment protection, improved drainage, and land restoration will boost food security and stabilize incomes.
