Residents of Taita-Taveta County are facing hardship after most parts of the region received inadequate rainfall this season, raising concerns over looming food shortages and water scarcity. Farmers report poor crop germination and drying of young plants due to prolonged dry spells, while pastoralists are struggling to find pasture and water for their livestock. Furthermore, vulnerable households may experience increased hunger and economic hardship, prompting the need for urgent measures such as water trucking, promotion of drought resistant farming practices, and relief food support to cushion affected communities.
