KNCHR URGES CALM AND ACCOUNTABILITY IN TODAY’S BY-ELECTION
BY PATIENCE SAMBA
The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) is calling for calm, accountability, and respect for the rule of law as voters head to the polls in today’s by-election.
In a statement, the Commission urges all candidates, political parties, and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid any form of intimidation, hate speech, or disruption of the voting process. KNCHR emphasises that electoral justice can only be achieved when the process is transparent and free from violence.
Election officials and security agencies have also been reminded to exercise fairness and professionalism throughout the exercise. The Commission says it will be monitoring the electoral environment closely to ensure that the rights of voters are protected and that any reported violations are addressed promptly.
KNCHR further encourages voters to turn out in large numbers and express their will without fear, stressing that calm and accountability are key pillars of credible elections.
