AFRICA BOOSTS CYBERSECURITY THROUGH NEW EU PARTNERSHIP

Africa is stepping up efforts to secure its digital future through stronger international partnerships aimed at combating rising cybercrime across the continent.

Speaking on Tuesday, Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo emphasized that collaborations particularly with the European Union are playing a crucial role in modernizing Africa’s digital security systems.

 He also noted that such partnerships are helping to equip law enforcement agencies with advanced forensic tools and specialized skills needed to investigate cybercrimes effectively.

Omollo pointed out that as more government services and economic activities shift online, safeguarding digital integrity has become a top priority. The new cooperation frameworks are expected to boost the technical capacity of African security agencies, enabling them to trace, analyze, and respond to complex online threats.

He also added that these investments in digital forensics will not only improve investigations but also enhance the overall trust in digital platforms used by millions of Africans daily.

However, with cybercrime becoming increasingly sophisticated, experts say that cross border collaboration is essential for protecting sensitive data and ensuring safe digital transactions across Africa. The partnership with the EU is seen as a major step forward in strengthening the continent's resilience against cyber threats.

RESOURCE CENTER EMPOWERS COAST GIRLS WITH TRAINING ON BOUNDARIES, CONSENT AND PERMISSION BY PATIENCE SAMBA        The Resource Center for Women and Girls has carried out training sessions across the Coast region to equip girls and women with essential life skills, including how to set personal boundaries, how to understand and give consent, and how to ask for permission in different situations. The non-governmental organisation has reached groups in Makupa, Mombasa County, and Kilifi County, conducting physical, interactive lessons aimed at empowering participants.
