KCSE AND KJSEA EXAMS KICKED OFF YESTERDAY AS KCSE ENTERS SECOND WEEK.
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations have entered their second week as more than 3.4 million learners across the country began sitting for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) exams, which started yesterday.
According to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), all necessary preparations were completed to ensure the smooth administration of the assessments, which mark another major milestone in the country’s transition to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
While supervising the opening of examination materials at the Kibra Deputy County Commissioner’s office on Monday, Education Principal Secretary Prof. Julius Bitok said the Ministry of Education was fully prepared for the exercise.
The PS assured that the government had released all necessary funds to support the exams and reiterated that there are enough spaces in high schools to accommodate learners transitioning to Grade 10.
Meanwhile, KNEC Chief Executive Officer Dr. David Njengere expressed confidence in the successful rollout of the CBC-based assessments.
The KPSEA exams will run until October 29, while the KJSEA will continue until November 3, 2025.
Education officials across the country reported that the first day of the exams proceeded smoothly, with timely delivery of materials and strict adherence to examination regulations.
The national examinations season which began with the KCSE on October 21 underscores Kenya’s continued efforts to strengthen the CBC system and ensure fair, transparent, and credible assessments for all learners.
